| Artist: Ollo | Album: The If If | Catalogue number: APCD02 |
This second, long-awaited album - from Sydney’s own ‘fun boy two’ Ollo is a meticulously crafted release. It draws together the critically acclaimed electronics of their 2002 debut Sleeper, with the imaginative vocal-pop, dub and acoustic elements of the ensuing singles. Whilst remixing, touring live and djing, these singles mapped a shifting landscape that ultimately informed the band’s most ambitious project to date,
The If If. You may already know them from their masterful cover of Fun Boy 3’s The Lunatics [Have Taken Over The Asylum] (which won them many fans around the world including Linda Evangelistica and The Dissociatives), or their classic remix of The Dodgems Lord Lucan is Missing which came in at number 8 on the Radio 1 Festive 50.
"You know an album is going to be different when its opening line is 'I really should eat more bananas and get more exercise'. The second album from Sydney’s Ollo, The If If, doesn’t disappoint; it’s a strange and imaginative collection of anti-pop songs that uses simple, melodic electronica to create trance-like soundscapes... The result is an eerie and well crafted musical excursion where you never quite know where you’re heading, or where you’ve just been." Rolling Stone
"Combining the ambient sensibillities of Matthew Herbert and the lyrical reach of The Triffids, ollo return with a stunning and anthemic electronic workout ... essential stuff on the 12 apostles label." Rough Trade |

| Artist: ROC | Album: Night Fold Around Me | Catalogue number: APCD01 |
ROC's third album "Night Fold Around Me" is a sumptuous conconction of rock, electronica, disco, noise, torch songs and more. Branded perverse and uncategorisable, the US-UK trio blur musical genres to create diverse backdrops for singers Fred and Karen's raging and poignant sentiments. Breezy pop backs vicious lyrics, and intimate ballads feature bomb samples and ravaged guitars. ROC's previous albums "ROC" and "Virgin" were widely-praised, not least by Radiohead and Orbital. But their approach earned them a reputation as troublemakers. Their first label Setanta sent an open letter to the music business warning people not to work with them. Q magazine(July 2006) says:"what held them back isn't their music but their attitude." Luckily that attitude remains intact, as evidenced by the new album. Two tracks have already been released as limited singles: "Princess" was BBC 6music Single of the Week, and a grime-leaning remix of "Journey To The Centre Of Brixton" made Playlouder.com's Readers Poll Top 50.Reviews for Night Fold Around Me: "Urban paranoia and moody melody...ROC are an intriguing concern and this third
album sees that continuing" Q ***
"Dreamy touches, enticing hazy vocals, stealthy beats and a very welcome sense
of not entirely knowing where they're coming from or exactly what they've been
listening to" new-noise.net
"a terrific collection of lush, intelligent electro pop full of beauty, tempered optimism and gallows wit" The Scotsman |

| Artist: ROC | Record: Journeys to the Centre of Brixton | Catalogue numbers: AP05 (12") AP55 (7") |
US/UK trio ROC have released two acclaimed albums spanning everything from pure noise to pure pop, baffling and delighting critics in equal measure. Their pulverizing new 12" Journeys to the Centre of Brixton describes a crisis on a London tube, updating the Who's 5.15 as singer Karen goes out of her brain on the train - with howling tube samples as backdrop. In addition to the lead track the record features sumptuous reworkings from producers around the globe. Ollo ( Sydney djs whose "Lord Lucan Is Still Missing" for 12 Apostles enjoyed plays BBC Radio 1 and Australia's Triple J) return with an exquisitely forlorn remix. Chicago glitch-gang Oh Astro provide an unhinged mesmeric house version, and Bullet Proof Sounds makes a kaleidoscopic dance track drawing on drum and bass, electro and more. From distinct musical and geographical positions all make their own journey to ROC's Brixton centre.
The artwork for the 12" features a specially commissioned sticker from London-based print-maker Slim Salt. |
 |
In addition to our usual 12" offering we have also pressed a few hundred copies as a double-A-side 7" called Journey To The Centre of Brixton (AP55). This features the song in contrasting styles: one is a studio electro tune verging on grime, the other is a heads-down live rock version by ROC's current expanded live line-up. Most of these copies are being used for promotional purposes but a limited number are available for sale. Costs are £3 for UK and Europe and £4 for the rest of the world. Prices include all postage and packaging costs. |

| Artists: Ollo, Hamster Dragster, Dsico, Foundation, Stefen Robinson | Record: Lord Lucan is still missing | Catalogue number: AP04 |
| Lord Lucan is Missing, one of the iconic tracks of the punk era, was released in 1978 by Brighton punk band The Dodgems. Part of the Vaultage 78 compilation, it was well received by those in the know, including John Peel who invited the band to record a session for his Radio 1 show. The session became one of Peel’s favourites and continued to be dusted down and given a spin every so often over the next 25 years. 2004 - which saw both the 30th anniversary of Lucan’s disappearance and the untimely death of John Peel - was the perfect time for the track’s reinterpretation so 12 Apostles set about assembling some of the world’s most cutting edge artists to remix the track. The resulting record - Lord Lucan is Still Missing - is dedicated to the memory of John Peel and features Foundation, Ollo, Dsico, Stefen Robinson and Hamster Dragster, all bringing radical new interpretations to the original. Hand sprayed and stamped cover artwork by London's Starpower Artists' Collective. |
