Jello once stood for San Francisco mayor and wanted to enact legislation that forced all businessmen to wear clown outfits, would this approach have saved the world from Gap clothing, we shall never know.  Blood & Fire (UK)  OK so it¹s the brainchild on Mick Hucknell, him of Simply Red. We forgive him his bland soul sins on the strength of this re-issue label which brings us the finest of Jamaica. The Congos, Johnny Clarke, Max Romeo & Horace Andy and others will lift your heart. We say approach the deification of Haile Selassie with care and read Ryszard Kapuscinski¹s "The Emperor". No quibble with the music, basslines from the soul and voices of angels.  Mute (UK)  Nick Cave, Add N to (X), Can, Goldfrapp, Einsturzende Neubaten, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion are just some of Mute¹s incredible roster of artists from the past 20 years. Don¹t forget NovaMute their dance arm who allow the experimentation of the likes of Speedy J & Luke Slater. Drawing on the past and bringing us the future, what more could the true music lover wish for?  Soul Jazz Records (UK)  The re-issue label of the moment with its New Orleans "Fish Fry" and 100-500% Jamaican soul reggae series. No heavy discipline here just celebration. Art      Fluxlist  The email discussion group for all things Fluxus. Also available is a searchable archive and a Fluxus FAQ section. Literature      The Wire  Home of the most adventurous coverage of electronica, avant rock, breakbeat, jazz, modern classical, global, and sounds from the outer limits.  Harry Crews  One of the best contemporary US authors - as powerful as he is inventive. So good Lydia Lunch and Kim Gordon formed a band in his honour Record Shopping      Kaleidoscope Records  (Liverpool::UK)  I can only recommend them on the strength of their website. Offering a good selection of leftfield, dub, psychedelic and all the other offending music categories at what seem to be good prices unless you live in Indonesia, Mexico or Australia.  Other Music  (New York::USA)  Just over the road from a truly depressing Tower Records in Soho sits New York¹s shrine to the best in music. The latest US & UK rock, alternative composers, a concise selection of US psychedelia, electronica and a particularly detailed account of French music from the 60¹s and 70¹s on my last visit. The staff do seem more concerned with what you might steal rather than buy, but there you are, it is New York after all.  Red Eye  (Sydney::Australia)  Encyclopedic coverage and the only place to bother going to look for Australian music. Desparately want the Avalanches cassette or Ed Kuepper's umpteenth solo funded lp ­ go no further. No snobbishness here either, I can¹t think of anywhere in the world with such an obsession for Madonna, Prince & Beach Boys rarities.  Rough Trade Records  (London::UK, Paris::France, Tokyo::Japan)  The Talbot Road shop off Portabello is the ultimate shrine to the power of recorded sound. Small and crammed with both recognized and unrecognized genius this is the place to buy music. Looking for that alt country drum¹n¹bass remix limited release white label from Beruit, you can be sure that the gem you¹ve been looking for will have made its way into their racks. London without Rough Trade is unimaginable. Biblical resources      The Bible Gateway  Excellent resource which allows you to search for specific biblical passages and quotes from a choice of versions including the King James.  Jesus Christ Superstore  Jesus Christ Superstore. Somebody is on a similar path to the 12 Apostles. The site isn't complete but it's well worth a look. Action Figures and T-shirts for lovers of all the major faiths. Buy the Lord Buddha or the Dalai Lama, or how about The Pope or God Almighty. Muslims can buy a Islamic Jihad action figure and our favourite is the Allah figure - take a look and see why.  Apostle Music  To quote from their own tag line 'bringing contemporary Catholic music to the people'. Possible the only place on-line you can buy a copy of Nick Alexander's 'Time to Laugh' which includes such gems as "Should I Stand Or Should I Kneel (parody of Should I Stay Or Should I Go by The Clash)" and "Our Mass (parody of Our House by Madness)". This is an old style US links site with some fairly appalling graphics but is still a great place to check in if you feel like searching the weird and wonderful. There are all the standard oversized breasts pictures and deformed people, look a little longer though and you'll find pages and sites dedicated to almost anything you can think of . How about Kid Rock's psychobilly haircut from his schooldays or the sock cooking pages .. did you know that Osama Bin Laden action figures are outselling the Tony Blair ones. Do you care?  National Public Radio (USA)  A more balanced America that's full of news, radio shows, MP3's. They are currently compiling an audio history of the World Trade Centre that include stories, the sounds of the towers and their environs. When we're in the States we turn off the TV and listen to NPR.  Radio Absorb  Download two hour radio shows in realplayer. Lots of new music and articles.
